Following are some of the most frequently asked questions for our staff and teachers. Please feel free to contact Oak Leaf Learning Center if you have a question or concern that is not answered on this web site. (972.412.7273) Q. What if my child has special health concerns? A. We have several children with different health concerns from asthma to food allergies. We administer breathing treatments, medication, and post food allergies for the teachers and staff. Great care is taken to work with the parents, teachers, and staff to provide care for your child's individual health matters. Q. How do you safely administer medication? A. We require authorization from the parent and doctor (prescription label will fill this requirement for prescription drugs). A daily medicine sign-in sheet is kept and only designated individuals can administer medication. Q. What will my weekly fee include? A. Weekly fees include meals, snacks, materials used by the children during the day, and transportation to public schools. It also includes computer classes. Additional fees might be charged for optional special programs, entertainment or field trips. Q. What qualifications do your teachers have? A. Oak Leaf Learning Center hires experienced teachers and staff with a love for children who are dedicated to providing a caring and nurturing environment. All staff undergo a criminal felony background check and have a clean bill of health. Each staff member is required to receive 15 hrs. of additional related training each year. Q. What methods of discipline do you use? A. We believe in positive methods of discipline. We establish consistent, age appropriate limits to help the children function in their world. Our programs are designed to develop in children a sense of independence, responsibility, acceptance, and respect for others. If discipline is needed a time-out period is based on age - one minute for each year of age. If the behavior is still not desirable, the child may be sent to the office for a discussion about the behavior and an additional cooling off period. As a last resort, a parent is notified. Q. How many lifeguards are present when the children are swimming in the pool? A. One certified life guard and one teacher are always watching the children anytime they are in the pool. Only a limited amount of children are allowed in the pool at one time. Surveillance cameras viewing the pool area are also located in the front office. |
